We have so much that unites us, yet we choose to concentrate on, and even invent new, labels that divide us. Insignificant but perceivable differences such as gender and race are already there to pointlessly divide us, but as if that wasn't enough we have also invented divisions such as religion and national identity which, despite serving some valid purposes throughout history, have done far more to cause divisions within the human race and act as barriers to progress, than they have to bring us all together.
Division is ridiculous, when naturally we all have so much in common which should unite us as one, not against a common enemy, but in unity for the good of each other and the planet we inhabit as well as everything on it. These invented differences have been used over the centuries to promote fear of others and an us 'against them' rhetoric throughout the globe and this permeates most societies today and is the route cause of the majority of human-related problems.
Of course there is nothing wrong with different countries and religions existing, it is just when so much importance is placed on those labels, and they take over people's identities and spread fear amongst populations, that the labels begin to divide people dangerously along non-existent lines. When in fact we all live on some speck of green, within an ocean of blue, on an insignificant spherical rock, in infinite space. We should be celebrating the things we have in common and our collective consciousness as a species together, not damaging this gift of life that we have with negativity and fear.

Fear is the most dangerous emotion of them all, it is also, unfortunately for all of humanity, the most prevalent emotion today.
